Silver Dollar City wins Best Theme Park Holiday Event honor for second year

For the second year in a row, USA Today readers and theme park fans have voted Silver Dollar City’s (SDC) An Old Time Christmas festival the “Best Theme Park Holiday Event.”

Today’s award comes after four weeks of daily voting in USA Today’s 10Best online poll. The top 20 events were nominated by a panel of experts before public voting began.

The nomination made note of SDC’s five-story special effects tree and light shows, Rudolph’s Holly Jolly Christmas Light Parade, two Broadway-style musical productions, and over five million lights illuminating the park.

Second place in the rankings is Dollywood, a theme park operated by fellow SDC owners Herschend Family Entertainment.

SeaWorld Orlando, Santa’s Village, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg round out the top five. Other nominees include Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags Over Texas, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Magic Kingdom, and Universal Studios Florida.

SDC was also recently named in Travel Channel’s “Top 7 Theme Parks for the Holidays,” and is spotlighted with Branson in the Fodor’s Travel and Huffington Post’s list of “10 US Towns with Incredible Christmas Celebrations.”

SDC is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and reopens for its final days of the season Dec. 26-30. Tickets are available here.
