Silver Dollar City will unveil an all new light parade for the 2014 Christmas season led by everyone’s favorite reindeer, Rudolph.
“Rudolph’s Holly Jolly Christmas Light Parade” arrives on the golden anniversary of the TV special “Rudolph the red-nosed Reindeer” and features nine beautifully decorated musical floats, all illuminated with 100,000 LED multicolored lights.
Over $1 million was spent to develop the new parade, debuting Nov. 1 during the kickoff of SDC’s annual “An Old Time Christmas” celebration.
Each float, designed exclusively for Silver Dollar City, features lovable huge drumming bears, cymbal-playing penguins, and more all accompanied by 33 colorful costumed characters (including Rudolph’s friend Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster), 14-foot moose characters, 12-foot tall elves and 10-foot candy canes, plus penguins, elves and a troupe of marching wooden soldiers.
In addition to the parade, “An Old Time Christmas” includes the nightly presentation of a five-story special effect Christmas tree on the square lit with 250,000 colorful lights, two broadway-style musical productions, amusement rides, shopping, and plenty of holiday meals and treats to satisfy your yuletide cravings.
