25 photos of Chateau on the Lake’s gingerbread house village

Long before most people prepare to decorate their homes for the holidays, the chef and kitchen staff at Branson’s Chateau on the Lake Resort Spa and Convention Center put in hours of work creating a village of beautiful gingerbread houses.

The (mostly) edible village stands more than three feet tall and includes four store fronts, two houses, and a church.

Here’s a look at the ingredients and time needed to create this annual masterpiece:

  • 300 lbs. powdered sugar
  • 120 lbs. egg whites
  • 600 lbs. assorted candy, cookies, pretzels, crackers, Pop Tarts, even Scooby Snacks!
  • 75 hours to create the store fronts
  • 50 hours to create the church
  • 50 hours to create the chalet (houses)

The gingerbread houses are designed by Chef Doug Knopp and decorated and assembled by the Chateau’s kitchen staff.

The village is on display in the resort’s lobby from early November through the end of the holidays. It’s a great free activity that the entire family can enjoy at any hour of the day or night.
